Definitely worth a look. Try to listen to it in person if possible

I have owned this product for a week now and I have to say it is the best sound system I have ever purchased! It should be considering the $700 price point! I tested the sound immensely with all types of music and it performed better than I had ever imagined it would! I love rock music and this made listening to the sounds to the bass drum punching me in the chest and getting kicked in the lower extremities a pleasure….as odd as that sounds! I turned the volume as high as it could go and almost no distortion in the music at all….though my ears hurt afterward so I do not recommend that! One drawback however is the”wireless” rear speakers. Unfortunately the room the unit is housed in doesn’t have an extra plug outlet to power the box to plug in the rear speakers so its set up with the all front speaker configuration. Blu ray playback is incredible though I wish that this included Netflix 4k streaming capabilities. Unfortunately that isn’t present so I have to watch Netflix 4k streaming through the TV instead of having access through the surround unit. Slight bummer but all in all everything else has surpassed my expectations as far as performance.

Amazing quality sound.; when it works

This is one of the best home theater systems that I purchased. I previously had a samsung theater systemthat was defective, but I’m glad I ended up purchasing this Sony system. The instructions is very easy and clear to install and hook up. The subwoofer is powerful and the sound is very clear and clean. Worth it.
Edit: The system that I received seems to be having some issues. It will be stuck on a specific input mode and no button presses seems to work. I will be receiving a replacement and will update the review.

    Good but a little quirky

I’ve had this system for about 3 months now. The sound is pretty awesome. i live in a two story apartment and can rattle the windows in the upstairs rooms when cranked up. i’m sure the neighbors love that. but anyway the “night” mode works pretty good at filtering out certain frequencys without sacrificing performance. so whatever it sounds awesome and all, but i’m sure what people really want to know about is the negative things. here’s the couple of things i’ve come across:

    1. kinda personal opinion, but i think it sucks that there’s no light on the remote.

    2. in order to play your tv and playstation, xbox, etc through the surround sound system, they need to go into the receiver as inputs. every now and then the receiver freaks out, and when you go to select an input it says that it cannot “read the disk”. the only solution that i have found is to do a complete system factory restore. which is really annoying because that requires you re-setting the speaker levels and distances and also entering in all your username and passwords to netflix and everything. i keep a picture of all my speaker settings on my phone to make this go faster. this has happened to me 3 times….so it’s averaging about once a month. VERY annoying if you have company over and you’re trying to watch a movie because it’s like a 20 minute thing.

    3. if you pause a movie or leave the system idle for some time (like say to go have a smoke outside), sometimes when you come back the receiver has turned itself off. when you turn it back on there are times that the sound will not work at all. it’s like it freaks out if it powers down from idle time. the solution is to turn it off and on once again. easy fix, but annoying.
